Get involved: Chemistry Club

Christian Carwell

Over the Easter holiday, Clermont’s Chemistry Club collected donations for their annual Easter Baskets which they donate to children at the Shriner’s Hospital.

With growing allergies, the club was restricted on which items they could include in their baskets. Baskets included various pre-approved candies as well as small gifts and activities such as coloring books, and toys.

At the end of the collection period, around $500 was donated, creating 25 baskets for children and teens in the burn unit at Shriner’s.

Chemistry Club currently has 17 members, but welcomes anyone interested in joining. Chemistry club is active throughout the school year, and is perfect for anyone wanting to get involved on campus.

Upcoming events include volunteering at Clermont’s annual Earth Day for the local Elementary school on April 22. Booths and activities will be set up around the school to teach the children about the earth, chemistry, biology and many other studies.

Chemistry Club is also hosting the annual Chemistry Poster Presentation.Every year, chemistry students design experiments and create poster displaying their results, competing for best poster. Prizes will be awarded for both General, and Organic Chemistry posters. Prizes were donated by Fischer Scientific.

The next Chemistry Club meeting is Tuesday, 14, April at 11am, tentatively in Snyder 142.
